It’s a holistic, existential therapy approach that focuses on exploring the person’s mind. In other words, it’s a relational approach to finding new ways to cope with things that bother you.

this explanation by the UK therapy association, although it might not be easy to grasp. In practice, Gestalt therapy typically does not involve instructions or homework, as other therapy modalities may imply. The method assumes that an individual has all the answers within themselves. It is not better or worse than other therapies.
Through conversations with the therapist, inner exploration leads to life changes. There is no special emphasis on particular causes of distress.
You may expect exploration of metaphors, suggestion of play-like exercises, or to fantasise about, say, a perfect day. I am specialised in the body-oriented approach in Gestalt therapy. This means occasional attention to bodily sensations, but no physical contact.
